Highworth to Inverie, a long way for a pint!
It way back in January this year when on a miserable wet evening I was thumbing through the 2009 edition of CAMRA's Good Beer Guide when I eye fell upon an entry for the Old Forge at Inverie, way up in the Western Highlands of Scotland, according to the blurb it was mainland Britains most remote pub. Never one to resist a challenge a little more research on the net found that it was accessable by a twice daily ferry from Mallaig, and that there were 3 or 4 nice looking B&B's in the village. The pub has its own website and the prospect of handpulled beer and good local seafood proved too much to resist.....I pencilled it in as a possible trip for the Summer. Fast forward to mid June and with my berth booked on the Caledonian Sleepers from Euston to Fort William, a B&B booked in the village and confirmation that the ferry was running it was all systems go, so 'I'm just popping out for a pint' took on a whole new meaning.......
About Me
I moved to Highworth in March 2007, I've always liked the place and it seemed a logical move to leave that crossroads of Asian, African and Eastern European culture that is Swindon for somewhere a little quieter. I hope you like my website, if you have any suggestions to improve it or general comments please let me know either by email or in person at the Cellar Bar, all criticisms must be included with a pint! Cheers.

10 mins before departure of the 1950 to Euston, this fantastic rainbow appeared over Fort William, fortunately Zippy, George and Geoffrey didn't appear!

First Scotrail run the Caledonian Sleepers and have done a good job refurbishing the coaches, this train has portions to Aberdeen, Inverness and of course, Fort William, and includes a very social lounger bar coach where hot meals, beers and other drinks can be taken before retiring to bed.
